Kat’s Rating: 5/5
Kat’s Review: I loved the first book in this series and couldn’t wait to get cracking with book 2. Ruby is a terrific character and I really wanted to see what her and Nathan were up to. Ruby is a good copper but this latest story really pushes her boundaries. A killer is stalking and killing women across London. The sickening part is that their bodies are posed to look like fairy tale Princesses. However, when body parts are found at her lover Nathan’s home Ruby is stuck between her heart and her job. Essentially Nathan hasn’t come from the most traditional background and with his history of criminality it seems he quickly becomes the Chief Suspect.
I think that a law abiding copper falling for a Crime Lord along with Mitchell’s skills as an author and you have a match made in heaven. This latest instalment is packed full of characters who I loathed with a passion, as well as many situations where I was scratching me head. Why the hell didn’t I see that happening? The plot line and story need no further explanation, just trust me on this and read it. The writing speaks for itself and once you are into this series there will be no stopping you.
I also feel like Ruby has an interesting future and not one I’m sure will always necessarily be in her favour. I can’t honestly say how I feel about Nathan and may even go as far to say I’m not even sure I like him that much. What I do know is that I have to keep reading about Ruby and I want to know about her future cases as well as her personal life. This series will catch you from Book 1 and I think if you start reading the series it could quickly become quite addictive. I think this is a cracking book and an amazing series. I cannot wait to read book 3! I read this latest book far too quickly, so do yourself a favour. If you get this book make you savour and enjoy for as long as you can hold out…it will be worth it!
